Don't forget the Rings! 🦉💍

Here's a few moments that I captured for the wonderful Lucy and Steve on their wedding day at Vaulty Manor last week. 

When it comes to photography I love a challenge so when Lucy and Steve told me that there would be an owl flying the rings down the aisle and delivering them to their son Milo I couldn't stop smiling!

From my perspective there is quite a bit of pressure to capture a wedding day, all of those intricate little moments that sometimes only last a few seconds MUST be captured, that is my mission, that is my goal, that is my promice!

When I go through and edit the photos after a wedding day, seeing all the beautiful little moments and the expressions on people's faces really does put a big fat grin on my face, the owl for me was the cherry on the cake, I can't express how rewarding this feeling is!

A Pirates Guide to the Galaxy (Bradfield)🌟

This wonderful old shipwreck is one of the many that can be found along the river stour, this one lies just on the outskirts of the estuary in Bradfield.

This image is something that I have had in my head for a few years now, I've taken many shots of this wreck but I always wanted to capture it at night when the stars were shining brightly and the tide was just rolling In, I was very unsure whether I could make this image work and i was very close to not even attempt to capture it at all.

For the last month I had been keeping a sharp eye on the conditions along with the high tide and on Tuesday night at 11:30pm it looked like the scene was going to be just right so I grabbed the camera along with my trusty head torch and headed for the foreshore.

After a few hundred metres of wading through boggy swamps I was finally greeted by this beautiful barge that has laid here to rest. There was barely a breath of wind in the air, everything was so still and silent, I could hear hundreds of little bird noises chirping over the estuary as they got their beaks down for a good night sleep.

As I stood there looking at this barge it made me wonder.... what journey had this been on since the day it was built, how many people had set foot on this vessel to be carried across open waters? 

This stunning barge started off its life as an idea, a thought that popped into somebody's head to say "I want to make that". Creativity is so so important no matter how big nor small, if you have a vision, if you have an idea don't hold back, just give it a go, the worst case scenario is that your idea wasn't quite what you had in mind after all failure is one of the biggest steps to success.

When you have an idea and you turn it into something you're proud of it fills your wonderful brain with serotonin which washes worries away and eases the stresses of everyday life.

So this bank holiday weekend, whether it's taking a photograph, going to the gym, baking a cake or building a barge your idea matters to you so give it a go!

Open Mic Night This Thursday in Manningtree Arts 🎶🎸🎤

This is my little (taller) brother Ace, he is a musical mastermind, I can't even play the triangle but Ace can pretty much play anything, he started playing the guitar since he was 12 and has been writing music ever since!

Ace is going to be hosting a regular open mic night at the new Manningtree Arts Creative space on the high street, the first one kicks of this Thursday from 6pm, if your in any form musically minded please do come on down, everyone is encouraged to take part, it's a great chance for new beginners and veterans of the musical world to come together to share their love of music!

Ever Wanted to be a Mermaid??🧜‍♀️

This wonderful bunch of ladies regularly meet on Manningtree beach for a dip in our beautiful River Stour,  they have braved it through the coldest temperatures rain or shine because wild swimming is good for so many things physically and mentally!

You may have seen a lot in the news recently about how the government are now FINALLY cracking down on water companies dumping raw sewage into our beloved rivers. This lot have stood together through thick and thin and have raised awareness of this, pushing it to being talked about in the media driving the change, i personally think this really is a truly amazing thing and just goes to show what standing up can do sometimes!

Huge thank you to the Manningtree Mermaids for everything you stand for! I myself swim in the stour, it's a wonderful invigorating experience, if you haven't done yourself I urge you to give it a go, after all the river breathes life to the soul! 🌊😊📸

All Aboard The Birthday Express 🚂🎈(Bodmin Railway Station, Cornwall)

Whilst my on my marvellous visit to Cornwall I had the pleasure of boarding this delightful steam train for a leisurely 13 mile journey through scenic Cornish countryside! The irony is that we booked this for a birthday celebration for Jays mum Jan and the train was conveniently fitted with a Happy Birthday sign on the front!

If you haven't been on this train then I sincerely suggest that if you're in the cornwall area you book yourself a ticket because it was such a surreal experience, really felt like you'd taken a step back in time!

Surfs Up! (St Ive's, Cornwall)🌊🏄

Sat on this glorious beach sipping a black americano last week watching this dude catching some Cornish waves, it was mesmerising! I haven't surfed for years, I've done it a few times and I know how hard it is so watching this guy rip through the waves like this gave me a whole new appreciation for it. The sea gull clearly got the best view though 🪶

Back Behind the Lens 📸🎉

Hi everyone,

You may have noticed that I have been extremely quiet on social media over the last couple of months. Sometimes in life everything floods in at once, I have been renovating my new home since October last year and since then I've pretty much put all my time into getting it done, the last 2 months especially have been relentless I've barely touched the camera and I cannot tell you how much I've missed getting out and taking pictures!

The good news is that after months of blood sweat and tears, me Jay and Zep finally moved in the beginning of March, it has been truly wonderful and we are over the moon! I have now set up my brand new office which I'm thrilled with, I've started printing my own images for the very first time, it's been a joy and has added a new layer to the way that I view photography! If this wasn't enough I also finally have my very own studio to get creative with!

Last week I had a glorious holiday away in Saint Ives, Cornwall and the camera has barely been put down since! Photography is not just my business, it's my therapy, it's my passion and boy oh boy I cannot wait to share some recent images with you!

There are times in life you have to make sacrifices to achieve things, sometimes it can seem to drag on for ages and there are moments where it feels that you'll never get there. 9 times out of 10 if you keep that goal in focus and stay motivated you will most certainly reach it and the sense of achievement you'll get when you do will overshadow all of the hard times that you faced before.

I've got some incredible jobs lined up this year and lots of exciting new things to come! Thank you all for your continued support and for bearing with me, I can already feel that this will be my best year yet!

For new years eve we had the absolute delight of staying with some wonderful friends in this stunning water tower in Appleton in Norfolk. Built in 1877 this beautiful building is part of the landmark trust and let me tell you that the staircase to the top is an absolute killer! The view from the top is well worth it! Finding your path in 2023!

Just like the mountains life has its ups and downs, the highest highs, the lowest lows but the best way to deal with a mountain is to choose the path that's right for you, not everyone wants the most challenging route and with that not everyone wants the easiest either!

Finding your path is one of those things that can take years sometimes but you know when you're on the right path because you just feel good! That lightbulb moment when you know that it feels just right, you feel wholesome, you feel complete, your worries and doubt evolves into joy!

If you're feeling anxious, if you're feeling doubtful, if it feels like you've felt this way for far too long then maybe you're just on the wrong path. The good news is that you can choose whichever route you like, it may seem daunting at first but once you start to believe in yourself, trust me, there ain't no going back! 

Most people don't want heaps of money with a mansion and a sports car, they just want happiness! It's a new year, it's a new start, there's never been a better time to get on the right track. Dodge the cracks, cross the rivers, skip through the valleys, reach up high and you'll be on top of that mountain with the biggest smile on your face before you know it!

Mooningtree 🌕 (Manningtree)

Friday night 10pm, im sat on the sofa all comfy with a nice cold beer in one hand, I was just looking at the weather forecast and I noticed that high tide was at 12.30am that night with a near full moon due around the same time. Problem was it was minus 4 outside and I was sat on the sofa.....

2 hours later camera bags packed and I'm strolling down the walls listening to Otis Redding with a beaming bright moon above me. When it's this cold it makes the estuary look like glass, this was shot around midnight, my hands were inconceivably numb but Otis kept telling me to "watch the tide roll away, wasting time" so that I did!

All in all it was worth every minute as there was not a single person in sight, the night was still and wonderful scenes surrounded me every step of the way! 🌌
